Creating and modifying rock types

In addition to reviewing and editing existing rock types in the Validate Rock Types form, you can also create new rock types for use in your solution. For each new rock type, the equation type for each rock property can be customized. You may also assign a custom texture to ensure that the new rock type adheres to your reporting standards and is easily distinguishable in the lithology column. When you finish modifying rock types, you can export them for use in other JewelSuite solutions using the Import/Export rock types form.

Creating a new rock type

To create a new rock type, you must first select a source rock type. All equations and input parameters from the selected source rock type will be applied by default and can be modified as needed.

  1. In the Validate Rock Types form, right‑click the rock type you want to use as the source and select Create New.
  2. A new rock type will appear in the list and will initially be named after the source rock type. Double‑click the name and enter the new rock type name.

  3. To change the color representing the rock type, click the color swatch to open the color palette and select your desired color.
  4. To change the texture displayed in the lithology column, click the texture preview and choose an option from the list. To use a custom texture, click Browse and select the image file you want to apply.
  5. In the right panel of the form, specify an equation and the related settings. When finished, the new rock type is ready and available for use.
